Today we will be focusing on Refreshing your mind body and spirit. What we mean by ”Refresh” is maintaining focus on your why when life tires your inspiration and will power. Without a deep Why, every excuse is going to be more powerful.
Two things that your Why usually stems from are: Fear, or Love.
One of our members shared her story of waking up every morning hoping to begin eating clean. Yet everyday at around 4pm, after a frustrating dispute with her conscience, she can’t help but eat the wrong thing. She therefore asks what she can do to stop herself from giving in. In order to help her with her goal, we stress the importance of the right mindset, because the only person you are in competition with, is yourself. To therefore defeat the discouraging voice in your head, we use a method called the “Your 10 Deep Why”.
You begin with your surface reason, and keep asking yourself why. You’ll know when to stop when your answer is good enough to motivate you through any excuse. You must allow yourself to be vulnerable.
Here's an example of how to use the "10 Deep Why Method":
10.) "I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT"
9.) "BECAUSE I WANT TO FIT INTO MY CLOTHES AGAIN"
8.) "BECAUSE I WANT TO FEEL GOOD WHEN I LOOK INTO THE MIRROR AGAIN"
7.) "BECAUSE I WANT TO STOP COMPARING MYSELF TO THE OTHER MOMS AT THE POOL"
6.) "BECAUSE I WANT TO FEEL TO LOOK AMAZING, HAVE MORE ENERGY & CONFIDENCE THEY DO"
5.) "BECAUSE I HAVE THREE KIDS, AND I WANT TO KEEP UP WITH THEM"
4.) "BECAUSE BY 5:00 PM., I'M COMPLETELY DRAINED, AND I JUST HAVE TO LIE DOWN"
3.) "BECAUSE I DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO THINK I'M A BAD MOM"
2.) "BECAUSE I WANT MY KIDS TO KNOW THAT I LOVE THEM"
1.) "BECAUSE I NEVER KNEW WHETHER MY MOM LOVED ME..."
With any goal, it begins with your mind. When your have your Why, your body will follow and that’s going to invigorate your spirit.
It starts with your Why.
Also, remember that what you are attempting is a lifestyle, not a quick fix. You also therefore need to go through this process often in order for your Why to be current and hit home every time.
