Are you sure you should be eating that?

Admit it...

...you're waiting for the New Year, to make the same New Year's resolution you made last year to start losing weight...

...the same as the year before...

...and the one before that...

Why wait?

It makes sense, doesn't it?

What better time is there than now to transform your body into the one that you've always dreamed of?

To kickstart your healthy lifestyle, I'd like to share with you some food for thought:

Why do you eat?

"Duh!  Because I get hungry.  I need food to function and you definitely do not want to see me "hangry!"

You're partially right, but that's not the only reason why you eat.

The thing is you (and probably most people you know) are eating way to much!

Your body doesn't need all of the calories you consume, and it shows around the waistline.  If we only ate to fuel our bodies and to "function properly", then we'd all have 6 pack abs, instead of 1!

And that's definitely not the case, right?

So what drives you to eat when you shouldn't? Hmmmm. The answer to this question could be just what you need to finally reap results in 2017.

Here are the four basic reasons that you eat:

1. Because you're hungry. This one is obvious. You eat when your body tells you that it's hungry and in need of fuel. Just like when the little red gas light goes off when your car needs to be refueled.

Eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are full is a healthy thing. Too bad this isn't the only reason that you eat...

2. Because you're emotional. ...but the truth is that you also eat when you are emotional. Think back—wasn't it just the other day, when you grabbed the tub of ice cream because you boss was being super hard on you?  Or, you ate a whole bag of chips or box of cookies because you miss that special someone, who is no longer present in your life? And it's not just negative emotions that lead to emotional eating—most of us reward happiness with unnecessary and unhealthy food.

Emotional eating adds a numerous amount of calories to your diet—all of these empty calories end up being stored as body fat.

3. Because you're social. Come on, it's happy hour, all appetizers are 50% off.  How many times have you ended up eating out (and usually unhealthy bar food) just so you're not labeled a kill joy?

When eating becomes a social activity and you do not pay attention to amount of "wings, nachos and beer" you are consuming, only one thing will result: unwanted weight gain.

4. Because you're habitual. At the end of each day you relax in front of the tv. with a beer and the munchies, and I'm guessing you're probably not even hungry.  You are simply used to the habit of munching on junk food while watching television.

Humans easily form habits, and when your habits involve mindless eating then your waistline suffers for it.

Here is my challenge to you, stop and before you choose to eat, and ask yourself these 3 questions:

1.)  Am I going to be able to stop after taking 1 bite?

2.)  Am I going to feel guilty after eating this?

3.)  Am I really hungry?  Or is it something else?

Asking yourself these 3 simple questions have the potential to dramatically improve your physique in the coming year.

I'd like to see you transform your body in 2017 - 80% of your results does depend on what and how you eat, however, you also need to exercise!
